I used to love going back to school every Fall – and, easily, the best part was shopping for those super fun school supplies. Picking out that special new planner, those perfect folders, and that sparkly pencil box?! It was honestly nirvana for 9-year-old Kate.
So, you can imagine my life as a parent. Now, I get to shop for TWO sets of supplies! (I mean, I don’t get to fully decide what actually goes in the cart, but at least I get to look at everything! Ha!)
If you’re planning for school, you might also want to read:
And, I think shopping for these must have school supplies can get kids pumped up about returning to school. It sets the pace for the new year and for getting back into the groove of our routine.
SO! I put together a quick list of some of my very favorite finds that I hope you’ll enjoy as much as I did! (Oh, and bonus? They’re all available on Amazon!)
Magic Reversible Sequin Backpack | WOYYHO: Totally gorgeous backpack with reversible sequins! Hello, mom, you know those mermaid sequins are SO IN.
Kids’ Dinosaur Backpack | JIEPAI: …but also, this dino backpack for littles!? Your son or daughter can look like they are straight out of a video game! Talk about sweet!
Headphones with Microphone | Elecder: With today’s technology, most kids have to supply their own headphones for school – often ones that go “over the ear”. This awesome pair is lime green, well-priced, and a fantastic choice for boys and girls!
Bento-Style Kids Lunch Box | Bentgo: A family-favorite! This bad-boy is leak-proof and contains 5 different compartments for making lunchtime a breeze. We love the push to include a variety of food groups and to minimize the amount of trash going to the school itself. This is in our family’s must have school supplies list!
CamelBak 12 Oz | CamelBak: This little bottle is used non-stop in our home. We have several patterns – but, for the start of school, it’s a special tradition for the kids to pick out a new one just for them! Fun and exciting and not too hard on the bank account.
Lunch Box | Wildkin: This lunchbox is big enough to FIT the Bentgo box (listed above) for transport to school. This brand is very well-priced and my kids love the variety of pattern choices.
Planner for Kids | Erin Condren: Erin Condren makes the best planners! This one is made specifically for kids and is a great way to help children start to learn their routine and expectations (homework, after-school, etc.) Undated, so you can start using this planner whenever it fits with your schedule!
Puffy Stickers | SAVITA: Over 500 stickers are included in this pack! My daughter had so much fun decorating her folders and notebooks this year. She loved the idea of having unique designs on her things and stickers are always a win!
Primary Notebook | Skye Print Books: Very fun dinosaur-printed notebook with story pages for students in K-2. There are LOTS of awesome choices, including a mermaid cover or spaceships! Have fun finding the best covers for your little learner!
Pencil Box | ZipIt: An awesome “Beast” of a pencil box! This Zip It creation can hold up to 60 pens or pencils! It also is machine washable and has a lifetime warranty.
Retractable Rubber Stick Erasers | ZXSWEET: These erasers are retractable and come in a 4-pack. A total life-safer for elementary students, as they will spend lots of time working on their writing (and erasing) skills!
Plastic Clipboard | Business Source: A basic plastic clipboard (in a super fun shade!) to help with writing on the-go. These were on my daughter’s KG and 1st grade supply list, but we always buy an extra for homework. In fact, I even like to keep one in the car! You just never know when you’ll have an extra minute or two to get that work done and out of the way!
First Day of School Sign | Honey Dew Gifts: …and, of course, we all need our back-to-school signs for those pictures! This one is reusable with liquid chalk markers (not included) – but can easily be redone each year. A great value for the money!
Chalk Markers | Chalktastic: 8 liquid chalk markers for your reusable sign (like the one above), but that can also be used on glass or mirrors! Great colors and non-toxic! Pro-tip: we like to use these markers to write our spelling words and Bible verses on the kids’ bathroom mirror.
The Pigeon HAS to Go to School! | Mo Willems: We are all about books in this house. (Honestly, my Masters’ degree is in Children’s Literature!) And this one is a no-brainer. Our favorite pal the pigeon has to get back to school and he does NOT want to go. A must-read for any little friend heading on back to their routine!
Special Jammies | Anna King Kids: Snuggle up in your new jammies with a great book (ahem, pigeons anyone?) – and gear up for a WONDERFUL year ahead! Anything to celebrate the start of something new! (Remember, we love to celebrate the little things over here!)
Did you find any absolute must-have school supplies while shopping this year!? What did I miss?
(Also, if you’re trying to get back into your routine, you might want to start with bedtime! Kids thrive when they get enough sleep each night – and these are the steps we follow in our house!)
